Every origami piece began with pen and ink with pencil shading on a 3.5” x 3.5” square paper tile. I scanned each piece of Zentangle artwork, duplicated and rotated it using simple graphic design, printed it and folded it to create origami stars, flowers and dodecahedrons (12 sided shapes). Each origami star / flower required 3, 5, or 7 pieces of identically

I’ve folded hundreds of origami stars and flowers on paper ranging from 2” square to 11” square, which is the largest paper I could print on my own. For this show, I built digital files for 6 patterns at 36” square and had them printed by ShelDon in downtown Duluth. These are the largest stars (18”-28”) I’ve created so far and I’m excited to, one day, go bigger!

This has been a year of great Discovery of things inside of me. I have discovered my worth, value, deservingness. These aren’t states I’ve earned, they have always been there waiting for me to open my heart and mind to their truth and presence.
