Heartdrop - A solo Art Exhibition, On View: April 2-July 1, 2025

All artwork is for sale. Contact episzczek@gmail.com to inquire.

This show includes 18 original pieces of art on 2" square paper tiles, 33 hand drawn 10-pointed origami stars, and 7 black/gray & white origami stars made from original patterns on printed paper.

Each of the hand drawn origami stars were created using white and silver paint pen on five pieces of tracing paper.

The framed artwork in this show includes 12 heart-based explorations of the tangle pattern Ai, by certified Zentangle Teacher Mikiko Morikawa. Ai is the Japanese word for love and each tile was drawn in response to a one word prompt. The prompts are as follows (L-R, across):

Lift, Rebel, Shrouded, Stamen, Under, Galactic, Braided, Dots, Doorway, Contrast, Three, and Checkered. See Heartdrop for m

St. Lukes, Building A, 2nd floor ramp.

Every origami piece began with pen and ink with pencil shading on a 3.5” x 3.5” square paper tile. I scanned each piece of Zentangle artwork, duplicated and rotated it using simple graphic design, printed it and folded it to create origami stars, flowers and dodecahedrons (12 sided shapes). Each origami star / flower required 3, 5, or 7 pieces of identically

I’ve folded hundreds of origami stars and flowers on paper ranging from 2” square to 11” square, which is the largest paper I could print on my own. For this show, I built digital files for 6 patterns at 36” square and had them printed by ShelDon in downtown Duluth. These are the largest stars (18”-28”) I’ve created so far and I’m excited to, one day, go bigger!

This has been a year of great Discovery of things inside of me. I have discovered my worth, value, deservingness. These aren’t states I’ve earned, they have always been there waiting for me to open my heart and mind to their truth and presence.

Galaxy is comprised of over 70 individually folded origami stars/flowers.  Each piece began with pen and ink and pencil shading on a 3.5" square paper tile.  I scanned each piece of Zentangle artwork, duplicated and rotated it using simple graphic design, printed it and folded it. Each origami star / flower required 3, 5, or 7 pieces of identically patterned paper.  To learn how to fold an origami

Each piece highlights ways in which I have learned to authentically show up in the world during this past year using simple creativity and the self-coaching practices I’ve learned through Heartwork Journaling. Galaxy is my first art installation piece. The unique space allowed me to curve the piece into 3-D form by hanging stars and flowers from the wooden slats that make up the dropped ceiling. Additionally, each side of this wall contains clear glass panes ideal for showcasing two-sided origami stars and flowers. There are 134 origami stars and flowers throughout the space featuring over fifteen uniqu
